London Biggin Hill (EGKB) to Schönhagen (EDAZ), near Berlin is about 490 nautical miles in a straight line, calculated from airport coordinates. For two people aboard, PlaneFit applies the same 72% screening factor used by the interactive map. That produces this first pass:
| Aircraft | Manufacturer range | Published conditions | PlaneFit screen, two people | 490 nm direct-distance screen |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cessna 172S Skyhawk SP | 640 nm · source | Ferry mission at LRC, 45-minute VFR reserve included | 461 nm | Outside rough screen |
| Diamond DA40 NG | 934 nm · source | FL160, 50% power, no reserves | 672 nm | Inside rough screen |
The DA40 NG falls inside the fixed-percentage screen and the 172S outside it. That is not a pass/fail result for either aircraft: Cessna already includes a 45-minute VFR reserve in its published figure, while Diamond includes no reserve in its figure. The same discount cannot make those figures comparable or establish fuel required for this trip. Compare the aircraft and source conditions.
Screened distance = manufacturer range × 0.72 for one to three people, × 0.67 for four or five, or × 0.62 for six or more. Results are rounded to the nearest nautical mile. Each aircraft uses the selected passenger count up to its seat capacity.
This fixed percentage does not calculate fuel reserve, alternate, winds, routing, baggage weight, runway suitability or the aircraft’s actual loading. Manufacturer ranges also use different test conditions. Check the applicable flight manual, weather and a real weight-and-balance and fuel plan before flight.
