Because the SR20 and SR22 share the cabin, avionics, CAPS philosophy and training ecosystem, paying for the larger engine should answer a recurring mission need rather than an appetite for the top model. The SR22 earns its place when cross-country time, range and useful load repeatedly determine whether a trip works. The SR20 is the more rational trainer and local tourer, and it leaves less performance for a transitioning pilot to manage. Load the trips you actually fly, not five occupied seats in theory. At what annual utilisation does the cheaper aircraft stop being the cheaper aircraft?
